HOW TO get Doodle Pantry Freebies

As of 1/15/15 - we changed how freebies are offered again, to make it even easier. This post below is no longer accurate.

Hi there!   I've had numerous questions on how the freebies work. The ones in which you are not required to make a purchase to get.   Of course, I think that it is easy to see, but since I have had so many questions about them, it must be a bit confusing.  I'd like to make sure it is easy for everyone to find. And I want to make sure everyone is able to get them, especially when they are only offered for a limited time.
This post is going to show you how to download an item from the freebie section. (This article does not describe the free with purchase items, as those must be placed in a the cart and another item paid for in order to get for free)

First item of note: You DO NOT need to add to cart/place an order to get one of the totally FREE products in THIS SECTION.  (The add to cart option is there if you just happen to be buying something anyway)

If you want an item that is marked as FREE, follow this process:
1. You must click directly into each products page that you want to grab for free, see picture below.

2. Then, if you are on a small screen computer, scroll down just a teeny bit until you see this icon in the description area, which is UNDER the price and ABOVE the add to cart button:
3. The clickable file link to save to your computer is JUST BELOW that icon shown in step 2. See the red circle below.

4. Just click the file name and your browser should bring up a pop up box to save it.  NOTE: If your browser is set to "open" downloads by default, you need to change that setting in your browsers tools to default to "save" the file.  If your settings are set up properly, this is what you should see when you click the file name:

All my products are provided in zip files and those cannot be opened, they must be saved first.
Once they are on your computer, you find the zip file and right click it and select "extract".

Select a folder place on your computer where you want to extract files and continue that process.

Once the extraction is complete, you don't need the zips anymore.
HOWEVER, I highly suggest you save all your zips to a flash drive or other separate back up drive that way, you'll have them if your computer ever has a terrible little problem.
Navigate to the folder, wherever you selected to extract your your files, and you now will see all the images in there and can insert them to whatever program you use.

Now if you want to change the settings in your browser for how to handle downloads, find the tools or settings menu item and get into there.  This is what Firefox looks like below, (most of the browsers should be pretty close to same terminology):  I've pointed red arrows at important items.

I sure hope this helps!  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy creating!

Update to our FREEBIE section

AS OF 1/15/15 - this post is no longer accurate. We made MORE changes to make the freebies easier to get. Search latest posts in January 2015 for updates.

Good morning!
If any of you follow our freebies, you'll notice a change over there.

I have split them into 2 sections, one is the totally free section HERE, where you can download straight from the individual product pages.  The downloadable file links are just to the left and slightly higher than the Add to cart buttons. Just click the links and your browser will prompt you to save it.

The other section are the Free with purchase items HERE.  These must be added to your cart of other purchasable products and you must checkout and pay, and then they will be included for free.
Some of our Freebies or Free w/purchases are only for a limited time, so make sure you read their descriptions to find out.

Now for the sad news, I have removed one of the first even offered freebies, the original Happy Bird.  He is no longer available for new customers.  If you still have him, feel free to use him and you can link up to his catalog page HERE.
HOWEVER, he was replaced some time ago with a cuter version of himself HERE for a small price.
BUT just to make things a little better since I removed the free bird, I added 2 digital PNG papers to the newer version of him, AND will allow anyone to download him for FREE from May 28-31!!!
Just CLICK HERE to GO TO HAPPY BIRDIE B and find the file link just to the left and slightly above the add to cart button to grab him for free!  Starting June 1, he will be free only with a purchase.
FUTURE ADDITIONS TO FREEBIES!   Keep watch in our freebie and free with purchase sections over the summer, as I am planning on not only adding some cute new images (NOT just sentiments), as well as adding color versions to the outline images that are currently left there, and maybe even some PDF quick card pages.
I hope you have a save and healthy and happy week.  Bless someone with a handcrafted somethin-somethin!  It's the best medicine for both of you.  :o)

Save Your Digi's! (and 3 FREEBIES)

Good morning!
Today I am posting to urge you to protect your digi stuff.   It is really easy.  And also to give you a few new freebies (at the end)!

I was thinking the other day, it would be horror to lose all your digital media on your computer!  I can imagine how disheartening that would be.  Probably a few thousand tears would come pouring out before I'd regain my sanity.   I really do understand!

I might be the only one out on a limb, but I personally don't think digital media is much different than other products bought in stores.  Just my humble little opinion.  A file saved on a computer is as real to me as a set of craft dies or all my cardstock and ribbon.   I personally would consider it my loss if I didn't take the opportunity to keep my digital files safe.  I equate it to buying a Dell computer, and not purchasing their warranty.  I just can't expect them to replace it if it gets stolen or dropped with no warranty.

Suggestions on HOW TO MINIMIZE or even potentially ELIMINATE your risk for digi loss
I highly suggest doing either one or both of the following:
1. The most affordable option is to purchase a flash drive or other separate backup drive, and copy all your digital media to it.  Make sure this particular drive is updated at least MONTHLY with your newest purchases.  Keep the drive in a safe place and do not constantly leave it connected to your computer (If you get a virus and crash, anything plugged into your computer could potentially get affected as well). You may need to buy several flash drives if you really have a lot of digital media.
2. Purchase a digital file backup recovery contract with your computer's manufacturer or the store where you bought your computer, or somewhere out there in www land.  There's either a yearly fee or monthly fee, depending on the provider and options you select.  Usually you can set the program up to automatically backup your files at regular intervals to a "safe" and "recoverable" place in www land. If you never have a problem, it will seem like wasted money, but if you ever DO have a problem.... I would think it would be well worth it.

Just some friendly advice to spend a few bucks to get some flash drives to back up your files.  It will save you so many heartaches and headaches if your computer meets a disaster.
And now for a little gift for you!
JUST BECAUSE I LOVE Y'ALL, I've decided to let everyone come download these 3 NEW versatile sentiment sets FREE for a LIMITED TIME!   MAY 15-19, 2013 ONLY!

4 Team members created some cards with some of these sentiments,

UPDATED NOTE: If you downloaded these from the shop page prior to 11:30 am eastern time, you'll need to download the So Thankful set again... there was a mispelled sentiment and I corrected it.
Here's a snapshot of the shop page, where the files are if you're not making a purchase:
I wish for you a wonderful day, a safe week, and may you bless others with your own special creativity!  Pass along some love and bring a smile!
