Save Your Digi's! (and 3 FREEBIES)

Good morning!
Today I am posting to urge you to protect your digi stuff.   It is really easy.  And also to give you a few new freebies (at the end)!

I was thinking the other day, it would be horror to lose all your digital media on your computer!  I can imagine how disheartening that would be.  Probably a few thousand tears would come pouring out before I'd regain my sanity.   I really do understand!

I might be the only one out on a limb, but I personally don't think digital media is much different than other products bought in stores.  Just my humble little opinion.  A file saved on a computer is as real to me as a set of craft dies or all my cardstock and ribbon.   I personally would consider it my loss if I didn't take the opportunity to keep my digital files safe.  I equate it to buying a Dell computer, and not purchasing their warranty.  I just can't expect them to replace it if it gets stolen or dropped with no warranty.

Suggestions on HOW TO MINIMIZE or even potentially ELIMINATE your risk for digi loss
I highly suggest doing either one or both of the following:
1. The most affordable option is to purchase a flash drive or other separate backup drive, and copy all your digital media to it.  Make sure this particular drive is updated at least MONTHLY with your newest purchases.  Keep the drive in a safe place and do not constantly leave it connected to your computer (If you get a virus and crash, anything plugged into your computer could potentially get affected as well). You may need to buy several flash drives if you really have a lot of digital media.
AND/OR
2. Purchase a digital file backup recovery contract with your computer's manufacturer or the store where you bought your computer, or somewhere out there in www land.  There's either a yearly fee or monthly fee, depending on the provider and options you select.  Usually you can set the program up to automatically backup your files at regular intervals to a "safe" and "recoverable" place in www land. If you never have a problem, it will seem like wasted money, but if you ever DO have a problem.... I would think it would be well worth it.

Just some friendly advice to spend a few bucks to get some flash drives to back up your files.  It will save you so many heartaches and headaches if your computer meets a disaster.
And now for a little gift for you!

Thank you so much for the reminder. I bought a mini drive to do this and just haven't done it yet. Think I might sit down today and follow through with backing up my images. Thank you for the freebies!!

Great advice on backing up your files. I have lost everything in the past and you don't get everything back that you had. My lesson learned is to back up everything and then have a spare. So I have 2 hard drives that I back up often.

Thanks for the freebies.

thank you so much for the fab sentiments! you are so very generous!

I've learned the hard way to back up all of my beloved digis.... lost way too many of them several times before investing in flash sticks. images are first saved there before being saved to my compy. that way I KNOW I have a back up. thank you for the reminder.

Great Reminder!
I do back up to a flash drive but haven't done that in a while. Also, about once a year I burn a cd with my digi files (in case I accidently delete things from the flash drive...yes, I've done that). That way I have a back-up of my backup. :)
Thanks for the wonderful freebies!

Thank you for the freebies! What a lovely surprise they are. I agree completely with your concern about losing your digis. My computer died about 6 weeks ago. I was in the middle of using it when it just shut off! The hardware was not saveable but luckily the hard drive was so I was able to save everything, but I am now downloading all my digis onto a portable hard drive. It would have been awful to lose everything!

Thanks so much, Laurie! I love having tons of different sentiments to choose from and FREE is just the icing on the cake. Oh, and the timing on your advice about backing up your files couldn't be more appropriate. My iMac died today, but I have an external drive attached to it. I hope everything is there - I read your advice about not leaving it plugged into the computer all the time. That was news to me! Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us all. :-)
